International Airlines Group (IAG), the new company formed by the merger between Iberia and British Airways, will mean “the beginning of many other projects” according to Antonio Vázquez, Iberia’s and IAG president in the Bon Voyage letter of the Spanish airline’s Ronda magazine
With IAG begins a new era in the history of commercial aviation and Iberia will play an important role in it. IAG will start quoting at the stockmarkets on January 24th, 2011.
IAG seeks to be a leader in the air transport branch, as it combines two of the most important airlines in the North, Central and South Atlantic.
Together, Iberia and British Airways – whose names will be maintained – will offer more than 200 destinations all over the world. The new aviation group has a fleet of 400 aircraft, carries more than 60 million passengers and has operating results of 15 billion euros a year. It will become the 3rd aviation group in Europe and the 6th biggest in the world.
