Iberia calls on unions to resume productivity negotiations

Iberia’s management has called on unions to resume productivity negotiations, once the deadline set by the official mediator – 15 April – passed with no agreement.

Iberia’s position is that productivity agreements are key to ensuring the viability of the company and its business lines, and that the workforce will also benefit, since the planned payroll cuts will be smaller.

In letters to unions, the company said that the 4% pay cuts that took effect on 15 April will be withdrawn as soon as productivity measures are in place, which would be good news for everyone.

Management said it would make every effort to reach the productivity agreements that are necessary for Iberia and vital for all its business areas.

Management said it is confident that the unions, including the pilots unions SEPLA which has thus far refused to negotiate, will accept this new opportunity to work towards an agreement that will be very positive for all parties, and will hasten the day when a profitable company can be built with an assured future.
