With the arrival of summer, Iberia will launch two new weekly non-stop flights between São Paulo and Barcelona.
Flight IB6852 will depart from São Paulo on Mondays and Thursdays at 13:50 h. and land in Barcelona at 05:40 h. the following day. Flight IB6853 will depart from Barcelona on Wednesdays and Sundays, reaching São Paulo at 03:30 h. the following day. Iberia expects to carry some 50,000 passengers on this route in the first year of operations.
The new non-stop route between the two cities will be covered by aircraft of the Airbus A340/300,type, with 254 seats, 36 of them in Business Plus class. Outstanding among the features of Iberia’s executive class on long-haul flights is a seat that converts into a totally horizontal bed, an on-demand audiovisual entertainment system, and a meal service based on Mediterranean cuisine, accompanied by the best Spanish wines.
In addition to this new frequency, Iberia offers two daily flights between São Paulo and Madrid, as well as a daily frequency from Rio de Janeiro to the Spanish capital. Since February 1st, 2011, the Spanish airline also links Fortaleza and Recife with Madrid three times a week.
With these two new routes, Brazil becomes Iberia’s most important Latin American destination, with nearly 30 flights each week and an offer that reaches nearly 726,000 seats, representing an increase of 28%, the highest growth in Iberia’s network. In 2010, almost 500,000 passengers flew with Iberia between Brazil and Spain.
