Iberia to maintain components for Rwandair Aircraft

Iberia and Rwandair have signed a comprehensive contract to maintain components of two new CRJ900s operated by the African airline.

The three-year contract covers the inspection and maintenance by Iberia Maintenance of Rwandair CRJ900 components, and includes access to Iberia’s pool of spare parts and the sending of a Main Base Kit to the airline’s hub in Kigali.

Maintenance tasks will be carried out in Iberia Maintenance installations in Madrid, where it has 18 production lines specialising in accessories, instruments, and components of A320s, A330s, A340s, CRJs, MD80s, B747s and B757s. The Spanish airline’s maintenance unit also services components for Iberia Express, Vueling, Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, Onur Air, TAROM, Meridiana, Atlas Jet, Swiftair, Orbest Orizonia and Garuda Indonesia.

Rwandair, founded in 2003, operates in southern and eastern Africa from its hub in Kigali International Airport. Its destinations include Buyumbura, Brazzaville, Libreville, Lagos, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro, and Dubai.

Iberia Maintenance inspects and repairs airframes, aircraft engines, and components for Iberia Group Airlines and about 100 outside clients around the world. It is Spain’s largest and the world’s ninth-ranked aircraft maintenance operator in terms of revenues, staff size, high technology, and aircraft modification capacity.
