LOS ANGELES – July 26, 2011 — International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), a wholly owned subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG), announced today it has completed an agreement to lease six new B787-8 aircraft and two new 787-9 aircraft plus two new 787-9 aircraft options to Thai Airways.
ILFC Chief Executive Officer Henri Courpron commented, “ILFC is pleased to support Thai Airways with this lease. ILFC is the largest customer of the 787, with 74 aircraft on order; we believe this aircraft is a strategic addition to Thai Airways fleet. We pride ourselves on working closely with our customers to offer desirable aircraft options as well as valuable delivery positions.”
“The 787 is the right aircraft to meet our needs to improve operating economics, enhance passengers’ flight experience and gain environmental efficiencies. Working with ILFC was valuable to us because they understood our strategy and had the correct aircraft we required,” said Thai Airways President, Piyasvasti Amranand.
All the leases are for a 12-year leasing term. The agreement calls for ILFC to lease eight Boeing B787-8/9s to Thai Airways between 2014 and 2017.
