Jet Airways to Start More Flights to Gulf Countries

Feb 02, 2011 – Encouraged by the increasing traffic on the Gulf routes, Jet Airways is planning to launch new sectors in its Gulf network.

Jet Airways currently operates two daily flights from Mumbai and one each from Delhi and Hyderabad to Dubai and is planning to one more flight on Mumbai-Dubai route. The airline is also planning to add flights to Sharjah from Mangalore and Thiruvananthapuram.

Jet Airways currently has a fleet of 93 aircraft and is planning to add 49 more aircraft in the coming 5 years.

Coming out of the global meltdown, when passenger air traffic fell significantly and airlines reduced capacity, the domestic air traffic clocked a 16% growth in 2010. According to industry estimates, the passenger traffic is expected to touch 60-million mark this year as against 45 million in 2009.
