JetBlue Airways Corporation (Nasdaq: JBLU) reported its preliminary traffic results for January 2011. Traffic in January increased 5.1 percent from January 2010, on a capacity decrease of 2.6 percent.
Load factor for January 2011 was 80.0 percent, an increase of 5.9 points from January 2010. JetBlue’s preliminary completion factor was 94.6 percent and its on-time (1) performance was 65.0 percent. JetBlue’s preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile for the month of January increased 13 percent year over year. Approximately two points of this increase was attributable to the impact of snow and ice storms at the end of the month, which resulted in a lower than expected completion factor.
