Within the framework of a new association with the consulting firm
McKinsey & Company, Lufthansa Technik AG will now offer consulting
services for the optimization of complex processes and the operative
implementation of transformation programs.
The joint venture will be headquartered in Hamburg and is scheduled
to begin its work during the first half of 2013 subject to the
approval of the anti-trust authorities. It will bundle McKinsey’s
know-how with Lufthansa Technik’s experience in the efficient design
of complex processes in the maintenance and repair of aircraft for
international customers in the airline industry and other sectors.
For years now, Lufthansa Technik AG, the world’s leader in the
aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry, has
successfully structured processes in its own global network for
maximum streamlining and efficiency, particularly through lean
management projects. In addition, the company has long supported
several of its customers in improving their own production and
service processes.
“With this new joint venture and McKinsey’s extensive know-how, we
can offer our MRO customers as well as customers from other
industries even greater support for their process optimization,”
explains Dr. Thomas Stüger, member of the Executive Board at
Lufthansa Technik AG with responsibility for Products, Services & IT.
“Once the direction, schedule and milestones for a restructuring
program are in place, it’s critical to make sure that all the changes
contribute to the common goal and that timetables and budgets are
met. In their new joint venture, Lufthansa Technik and McKinsey will
work together to ensure that this is achieved,” said Detlef Kayser,
Director at McKinsey.
