Korean Air continues dominance in China market

Korean Air is launching service to two new cities in China this year — Guiyang and Nanning – ensuring the airline’s dominance in China as the largest non-Chinese airline flying to China from the Americas.

With this addition, Korean Air will fly to a total of 26 destinations in China in 2015. No other foreign carrier serves as many cities there from as many cities in the U.S.

Guiyang, with a population of about 3 million, is the capital of Guizhou province in Southwest China while Nanning, with almost 2 million people, is the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China.

Korean Air has long been a market leader and market-maker in China. In addition to its own service, it has championed the addition of several Chinese airlines as members of the SkyTeam alliance, of which Korean Air is a founding member.

Korean Air provides seamless access from the Americas to China through its world-renowned Incheon hub. As the largest Asian airline in the Americas, Korean Air has an advantage in experience and market knowledge. The carrier serves three of its 13 North American gateways with the industry’s most spacious A380 featuring the popular Celestial Bar and an entire upstairs devoted to the business traveler.
