Libya operations – update on progress

20 September 2011 – Air Malta today announced that it has been granted traffic rights to operate flights to Benghazi in addition to the rights it already had to operate to Tripoli. The airline has now confirmed flight slots for a daily flight to Tripoli and a twice weekly flight to Benghazi.

The airline also announced that its office in Tripoli and of its General Sales Agent in Benghazi will re-open as from tomorrow.

The airline is closely working with the Maltese Government and Libyan officials with a view to restart and facilitate travel arrangements as soon as possible now that traffic rights for both cities have been granted.

Air Malta stressed that the issuance of visas from Benghazi is facilitated since this is critical for the feasibility of this route. The airline is looking forward to receiving operational clearances and the no fly zone restrictions are lifted so as to start operations without delays.
