LOT and Rainbow Tours towards the sun

Warsaw, May 9, 2013 – LOT Polish Airlines and the tour operator Rainbow Tours have signed a contract for charter flights from Warsaw to the most popular tourist destinations in the world, among others, to the capital of Thailand, Bangkok. The agreement will ensure the fastest and the most comfortable flights to tourists traveling from Warsaw to such remote parts of the world.

LOT has made a strategic decision on restoring charter flights, which resulted in signing the contract with Rainbow Tours. Starting from November this year, flights will be operated non-stop from Warsaw to Bangkok – once a week, to the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, Mexican Cancun and one of the most beautiful resorts in the Carribean – the Cuban Varadero – every other week. Passengers willing to spend their vacation time in these exotic places, will travel on board LOT Dreamliners. People traveling from Warsaw, for the first time, will have the opportunity to cut short the travel time to the minimum and experience non-stop flights to far away lands.

We want to offer the best product we have to our business partners and their clients – said Sebastian Mikosz, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines. I am sure, that there will be many people eager to travel directly to such far away destinations, where the flight time usually is more than a dozen hours.
I am happy that together with our partner for the first time, we can offer for people traveling from Poland so comfortable journey. I also guarantee that passengers will be far less tired when starting or ending their vacation – added Sebastian Mikosz.

In Poland the exotic tourism segment has been growing steadily. For some years now, Rainbow Tours has successfully explored this market segment, however, until now, the main barrier in the fast growth of exotic destinations sales was the exhausting journey which usually involved one or two plane changes en route, which made the whole journey last 16-18 hours. Starting today, it’s going to be different – after a 9-hour flight passengers can disembark in another hemisphere and enjoy the sunshine. We are very excited about our collaboration with LOT and we strongly believe that the relatively short non-stop flight on board the world’s most modern aircraft, will open the exotic destinations for those market segments that have been avoiding this kind of travels so far – said Grzegorz Baszczyński, President of Rainbow Tours.

It is important that the Boeing 787 flights to exotic countries will be operated as non-stop flights. Thanks to that, starting in November this year, Rainbow Tours Clients planning to travel to Thailand, Mexico, Cuba and Sri Lanka will have their flying time cut short by almost five hours.

LOT offers supreme comfort and reduced time of flight. Thanks to long-haul fleet dedicated to those flights, flying from Warsaw to Sri Lanka, Cuba, Thailand and Mexico may be operated without the stops. This reduces time of travel to a minimum, which is important at such long distances.

LOT is restoring its charter operations and is treating it as one of the strategic elements of its business model. According to the plan, the carrier will start operating charter flights from winter season 2013-2014. Cooperation between LOT and the tour operator will allow for effective use of the long haul fleet in the time when passenger traffic is less intensive and planes spend less time in the air.
