Lufthansa relies on scheduling solutions from Lufthansa Systems

Lufthansa Systems today announced that Lufthansa will continue to rely on its IT expertise in the fields of flight scheduling and codeshare management. The airline renewed its existing agreements – which have been in place for over 10 years – for the use of NetLine/Plan for network planning, NetLine/Sched for medium- and short-term scheduling and SchedConnect, with its central flight schedule database, for codeshare management and schedule distribution.

“Over the years, all three systems have proven themselves in our flight operations and met our efficiency requirements. We also know we can always rely on Lufthansa Systems to make any necessary changes quickly and constructively. By renewing our agreement, we are ensuring continuity in our systems and our relationship with Lufthansa Systems,” said Dr. Christoph Klingenberg, Senior Vice President Information Management of Lufthansa Passage.

“Lufthansa’s decision to renew our long, successful partnership is extra motivation for us to continue putting all our energy and expertise into supporting our customer,” said Dr. Hannes Pfister, Senior Vice President Key Account Management Lufthansa Passage at Lufthansa Systems. “Our products will also keep evolving so that Lufthansa and our other customers can generate profitable plans and take advantage of market opportunities well into the future.”

SchedConnect was developed in cooperation between Lufthansa Systems and Lufthansa and is now one of the leading codeshare and schedule management solutions in the market. The system processes over 40 million schedule changes from around 150 airlines each month. Professional codeshare and schedule management is an important prerequisite for joining one of the global airline alliances.

NetLine/Plan and NetLine/Sched cover all processes for long-term as well as medium- to short-term flight scheduling, respectively. Based on their high level of automation, the NetLine solutions help airlines accelerate processes, reduce costs and increase revenues. Airlines can modify their schedules with NetLine/Plan and NetLine/Sched to increase the overall capacity utilization of their aircraft. The systems also make it possible to evaluate “what if” scenarios and gauge their cost-effectiveness. Both systems help planning personnel make decisions and include high-quality optimization tools for improving flight schedules from an operational and economic point of view.
