Representatives of more than 25 Asia-Pacific airlines meet in Krabi, Thailand from today for the third annual meeting of the Airline Focus Group – Asia Pacific, hosted by Lufthansa Systems. Airline experts and industry representatives discuss current industry trends, focusing on ways to respond to markets demands and meet future requirements through innovative technology.
At the conference, senior airline representatives share their experience regarding growth strategies for airlines of different sizes and business models. Captain Sopit Pokasoowan, Vice President, Risk Management at Thai Airways International, will explain the importance of risk management and its benefits for one of the region’s leading carriers. Executives from Cathay Pacific, Chinese cargo carrier UNI TOP and Singapore’s Fraunhofer Institute at Nanyang Technological University talk about the optimization of their business processes with the deployment of modern IT systems and the influence of future technology on the airline industry, while Dr. Xu Hongjun (Faculty of Economics and Management) from the Civil Aviation University of China will give an insight into this growth market’s thriving airline industry.
Dr. Gunter Küchler, Member of the Executive Board, and Olivier Krüger, Senior Vice President Sales Asia Pacific of Lufthansa Systems, will highlight the IT provider’s innovative product portfolio. They will present the world’s first wireless in-flight entertainment system, BoardConnect. This exemplifies the opportunities to improve airline business processes and increase potential revenue streams in that area. In the area of platform solutions, the Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC) Platform and the Integrated Commercial Platform (ICP) combine applications into seamless solutions allowing fast operational decisions based on all relevant data. This enables airlines to achieve considerable efficiency gains that can result in additional earnings or reduced costs.
