Airbus and Lufthansa Technik have signed a contract for the completion of a further three ACJ318s. The contract signature is the latest development in the successful ACJ318 program-partnership between Airbus and Lufthansa Technik which started in 2006. This increases the overall number of Airbus ACJ318 completions at Lufthansa Technik to 22.
Of these, 17 ACJ318s have already been outfitted with a VIP-cabin by Lufthansa Technik’s completion experts in Hamburg and at BizJet International, Lufthansa Technik’s US subsidiary based in Tulsa / Oklahoma. From the five remaining ACJ318s, three aircraft are scheduled to arrive at BizJet for completion in 2013, the other two aircraft will be delivered in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
In 2009, BizJet International took over the responsibility for the ACJ 318 completion program, allowing Lufthansa Technik’s site in Hamburg to focus on the highly customized outfitting of narrow- and wide-body VIP aircraft. While the Airbus ACJ318 program is standardized to a certain degree, a rich choice of materials, the selection of an individual design and various floor-plan options allow the creation of a highly customized cabin interior. To accelerate completion times, Lufthansa Technik selected new ways to create the interior, using decorative film coatings (DFCs) as a highly realistic representation of polished wood, offering a large variety of design possibilities combined with a high durability – an immense advantage for charter operators.
Working for many years on the Airbus corporate jetliner family and having delivered a variety of these aircraft to individual clients, charter and scheduled VIP jet operators, the ACJ318 has become a key product of Lufthansa Technik’s completion network and strengthens its cooperation with Airbus in the area of VIP and Executive Jet Solutions.
Lufthansa Technik is both an Airbus-approved completion centre for the ACJ family and part of Airbus-approved service centre network.
