Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen expands service offer for China and Asia

Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen (LTS) is expanding its maintenance, repair
and overhaul (MRO) offer in the Asia-Pacific region even further: the
cornerstone was laid on 18 April for two new LTS buildings at Bao’An
International Airport in Shenzhen in southern China, where the
company is headquartered. When they are complete, LTS will have
doubled its workshop and warehouse capacity from 7,000 to nearly
15,000 square meters. The new buildings are scheduled to be finished
by the beginning of 2014.

As a composite materials specialist, Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen will
responded to the increasing demand for technical services for
composite materials by installing and commissioning a second large
autoclave. Special new test benches already enable the company to
work on larger and latest-generation hydraulic and pneumatic
components such as those for Airbus A380 or Boeing 787 aircraft.

“With the new workshop and warehouse space, we’ll be able to expand
our product portfolio in the areas of Airframe Related Components
(ARC), engine part, and component repairs even further,” said LTS
President and CEO Dr. Bernd Riggers. “We have noticed a significant
increase in demand for these services here in the region.” Along with
the construction of the new buildings, extensions and improvements to
the company’s training center are planned, which welcomes up to 30
new trainees every year.

LTS, founded in 2002 as a joint venture of Lufthansa Technik and
Beijing Kailan Aviation Technology, has a total of 300 employees.
Among others it has approvals from the Chinese (CAAC), American (FAA)
and European (EASA) aviation authorities.

The company maintains an extensive component pool. In the areas of
avionics, pneumatics and hydraulics alone, LTS offers supply and
maintenance of around 100,000 different parts for nearly every
aircraft type from the leading manufacturers Boeing and Airbus as
well as for Bombardier CRJ regional jets. The company is also a
member of the worldwide Airbus spare parts repair network.
