Today, 12 September 2011, Malév started selling air tickets for a new Budapest – Tripoli flight, which according to plans will be launched on 23 October 2011, as the first such service by European carriers. The planned link will fly between the capital of Libya and Budapest five times a week. The scheduling of the connection bridging the gap between the North African country and Hungary will – similarly to Middle Eastern flights – ensure that travellers have highly convenient transfer options to Malév’s network spanning North and West Europe.
The new planned Malév flight offers rapid and convenient travel into the region. Currently Tripoli airport is closed, but like other European airlines Malév reckons that civil air transportation in Libya will start up again within two months.
Malév intends to operate B737-600 aircraft on the new route.
