More Iberia destinations and new routes

Madrid, 26 of November of 2010

For the coming winter season, Iberia has readied the launch of services to three new destinations –Recife, Fortaleza in Brazil, and Los Angeles– and two new direct routes –Barcelona-Miami, and Barcelona-São Paulo.

On February 1st, Iberia will operate its first flights to Recife and Fortaleza in Brazil, on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It will use 254-seat Airbus A340/300s equipped with a Business Plus section, featuring ergonomic seats that open into flat beds, a on demand in-flight entertainment system, gourmet food service designed by Sergi Arola, and the most exquisite wines from Spain’s many growing regions.

In addition, within the framework of the Joint Business Agreement covering North Atlantic routes signed by Iberia, American Airlines and British Airways, starting on March 28th the Spanish airline will begin operating on two new routes: Madrid-Los Angeles and Barcelona-Miami. The flights to the Southern Californian city will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The new Barcelona-Miami flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and are timed to provide convenient connections between Miami and a host of U.S. cities served by American Airlines.

Also starting on March 28th are Iberia’s new thrice-weekly services connecting Barcelona and São Paulo. In São Paulo, flights operated by the GOL airline are available for 13 additional Brazilian destinations: Bel Horizonte, Brasilia, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Fortaleza, Goiania, Iguaçu, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador de Bahia, and Vitoria.

Meanwhile, in November Iberia launched its new direct flights between Paris and Tenerife in the Canary Islands. A 196-seat Airbus A321 is used for the weekly service, which operates every Saturday.
