More Saab 340s to Thailand

The regional airline NOK Mini in Thailand has leased two Saab 340Bplus from Saab Aircraft Leasing and will start operations on April 1st. Eight secondary cities in Thailand’s northwest and northeast provinces will be serviced with daily flights from DonMuang airport in Bangkok.

NOK Mini is a codeshare partner with NOK Air, a successful low-cost carrier famous for its colorful B737s based on local Thai birds. The NOK Mini 340s are painted in a similar way and will for sure liven up every airport in its network.

Dr. Jain Charnnarong, CEO of NOK Mini commented “We selected the Saab 340Bplus for its passenger appeal, low operating cost and low fuel consumption, and it will allow NOK Mini to be successful in the very competitive aviation market in Thailand.”

“The Asia-Pacific region has fully recovered from the global economic crisis and its aviation sector is the fastest growing in the world. We have concluded several leasing and purchase deals recently and the Saab 340 fleet in Asia-Pacific is nearing 100 aircraft” says Morgan Falkengren, Senior Vice President (Asia-Pacific) for Saab Aircraft Leasing.

In Thailand the Saab 340 is also operated by Happy Air based in Phuket and the Royal Thai Air Force, operating the special version Saab 340AEW.
