New Lufthansa Systems data center in Singapore strengthens the company’s position in region

Lufthansa Systems today announced that its new data center in Singapore has gone into operation. The IT service provider can now offer its customers in Asia a wide range of infrastructure services that meet the highest standards. Most importantly, all requirements including those for data privacy during operation are fulfilled by hosting the data in Asia. As the largest growth market for global aviation, Asia is very important to Lufthansa Systems. The increasing number of customers in the region shows that the company’s portfolio to improve efficiency and competitiveness is attractive to airlines.

“By setting up a data center in Singapore, we are further enhancing our infrastructure expertise, because having full control over all aspects of our services enables us to establish standards in infrastructure, processes and operations,” said Bardo Werum, Senior Vice President Infrastructure at Lufthansa Systems. This new location will strengthen Lufthansa Systems’ global data center network that includes sites in Kelsterbach, London and Dallas. The same processes have been established in each data center with a remote service for servers, databases and networks provided by the Operation Center in Budapest.

The new data center in Singapore can be expanded easily and will generate much lower operating costs. From Singapore, Lufthansa Systems will primarily offer co-location services for its Lido/Flight flight planning solution, its SkyConnect WAN solution and its deskBase workplace model in this region, among others. “Our goal is to take advantage of the regional opportunities and proximity to our customers to make our hosting services even more attractive and acquire new customers in the region with our expanded capacity," said Olivier Krüger, Senior Vice President Regional Management Asia/Pacific at Lufthansa Systems. “Singapore Airlines and EVA Air are two well-known airlines in the region whose flight planning applications, for example, will be hosted in the new data center.”
