Nigeria Air project suspended by the government

The Nigerian government has suspended its national carrier just several weeks after its unveiling. Nigeria Air was due to begin operations in December 2018.

"All commitments due will be honored,” according to Aviation minister Hadi Sirika.

Although the exact reason for the suspension of the project was not disclosed, the proposed airline received criticism from the public as a waste of money and resources.

A total of N755 million was allocated to the project in the 2017 budget, with a further N70 million in 2018.
