Oman Air appoints Country Managers for Philippines and Indonesia

Oman Air has appointed new Country Managers for each of the two new destinations it will be flying to from December 2014.

Ritchie Tuano has been appointed as Country Manager for the Philippines, in readiness for the launch of three flights a week from Muscat to Manila on December 2nd 2014.

Iman Hartono is the new Country Manager for Indonesia, where three flights a week flights from Muscat to Jakarta will launch on December 12th 2014, with a fourth frequency being operated from 2nd January 2015.

Announcing the appointments, Mahfood Ali Saleem Al Harthy, Chief Officer Sales at Oman Air, said, “We are delighted to welcome Mr Tuano and Mr Hartono to these new positions and we wish them both the very best in their roles. We also look forward to benefiting from their extensive experience and knowledge of local markets to make these new routes to Manila and Jakarta a resounding commercial success. Our new services from Muscat to Manila and Jakarta have already attracted huge demand for tickets, demonstrating the popularity of both destinations amongst both business and leisure travellers. Furthermore, it is clear that the new services also meet strong demand in the Philippines and Indonesia for travel to the Sultanate of Oman and forward destinations within our network.”

Ritchie Tuano, Oman Air’s new Country Manager – Philippines, has over 20 years of experience within the aviation industry covering passenger operations, GDS and TMCs. This experience was gained with many airlines in the Philippines and GCC regions, with his most recent role being as a Specialist Consultant for Cebu Pacific, working on their international operations to the GCC region.

Iman Hartono’s appointment as Country Manager – Indonesia follows more than 15 years’ experience with a range of different airlines in Indonesia. His most recent was with Royal Brunei, where he headed the Sales and Marketing function for Indonesia.

Oman Air’s launch of the two new destinations signals the start of the national carrier’s latest phase of ambitious expansion. This will see Oman Air expand its fleet from 30 aircraft to around 50 aircraft within a three year timescale. The new aircraft, each with newly designed interiors and state-of-the-art onboard technology, comprise three Airbus A330s, six Boeing B787 Dreamliners and 15 Boeing B737s. By the end of 2018, the average age of Oman Air’s aircraft will be just under three years, making it one of the youngest fleets in the skies.

The expansion of Oman Air’s fleet will enable it to offer greater frequencies on established routes, improved connection times at Muscat International Airport and a range of new and exciting international destinations. The first of these new destinations are Manila and Jakarta, both of which will be served by Oman Air’s award-winning Airbus A330s. Bookings are now open and customers are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
