POLYNESIAN ANNOUNCES NEW FLIGHTS FOR 2015

Polynesian’s Chief Executive Officer, Seiuli Alvin Tuala, confirmed today that Sāmoa’s National Airline will be re-entering the domestic Savaii market from February 2015.

“We will be resuming flights to Savaii next year and the first flight is anticipated to commence on Monday, 2nd of February 2015”, Seiuli confirmed.

According to Seiuli, the Airline’s move to acquire a third Twin Otter aircraft which started commercial flights in September was mainly to help improve the service to its core Pago market and at the same time provide the airline with the opportunity to consider other additional routes such as the domestic markets in Savaii and Manu’a in American Samoa.

“Polynesian has been operating domestic flights between Pago Pago and Fitiuta, Tau, Manu’a since the beginning of September under an exemption approval from the US Department of Transport and with the support of the American Samoan government”. As the country’s national airline, we have always been mindful of the fact there was no reliable air service on our own domestic route and it was always in the cards for Polynesian to consider going back to Savaii at some stage when we had consolidated our operations and sorted out our capacity issues”, Seiuli added.

Seiuli confirmed that Polynesian will start with three flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between Fagalii and Maota catering for business commuters and tourists who want to explore the natural beauty and attractions the Big Island has to offer.

In addition to Savaii, Seiuli also confirmed that Polynesian will be flying between Faleolo International Airport and American Sāmoa starting from Sunday, 1st of February 2015. “We will be offering a daily flight on this route, except on Fridays. This service will cater mainly for transit passengers travelling to and from American Sāmoa that connect out of Faleolo International Airport from New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Hawaii. It will also serve our people residing on the Western side of Upolu who travel back and forth between the two Samoas”, he stated.

“Since American Sāmoa is our country’s third largest market in terms of tourist arrivals and given the increasing number of quality resorts located on the western side of Upolu including some new tourist attractions such as the Whitesands Casino, we plan to build this route slowly to promote holiday travel from American Sāmoa”, Seiuli further added.

Promotional one-way fares from Fagalii to Maota start from $100.00 tala for adults, $60 for children and $30 for infants inclusive of taxes and surcharges.
