Porter Airlines introduces seasonal service between Charleston and Toronto

TORONTO – Porter Airlines is introducing seasonal service between Charleston, S.C., and Toronto. From February 14 to May 2, 2015, Porter will operate one weekly round-trip flight, with introductory one-way fares beginning at $238, including all fees and taxes. Flights are now available for booking at www.flyporter.com.

Charleston is home to superior golf courses, pristine beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, and a historic downtown full of charm and southern hospitality. The city was rated as the world’s second best by Condé Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards in its Top 25 Cities of 2014. Nearby Kiawah Island was rated number one in North America and number two in the world by Condé Nast in its Top Islands categories.

“Charleston is a truly southern destination that offers some of the world’s best hospitality,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “It is a welcome complement to our growing network that I know passengers will embrace.”

Porter provides a premium experience for all passengers, including leather seats, complimentary wine and beer onboard, and exceptional customer service. Its “flying refined” approach has developed a loyal following among travellers and helped make Porter the Top Small Airline in the World (2013), as voted by Condé Nast Traveler readers. Its home base at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is known for an accessible location, making travel convenient and simple.

“We are looking forward to Porter Airlines, with service to Toronto, Canada, joining us at Charleston International Airport,” said Paul G. Campbell, Jr., director of airports, Charleston County Aviation Authority, which owns and operates Charleston International Airport along with two general aviation airports in the South Carolina Lowcountry. “This gives our passengers another choice in great destinations, and it gives Lowcountry residents access to Toronto and several other great Canadian cities as well.”

“We believe that Porter Airlines’ motto of ’flying refined‘ is a nice fit for the Charleston area,” said Dan Blumenstock, chairman of the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “Our research shows a very loyal following of Porter customers are also among the same people we have identified as the discerning Canadian travellers that are looking for authentic experiences as they move about North America. Toronto is a market that has intrigued our industry for some time and we believe that Porter will enjoy immediate success in Charleston with the marketing partnership that is being cultivated between the Charleston Area CVB and Porter Airlines.”

The flight schedule features Saturday departures from Toronto at 9:45 a.m., arriving in Charleston at 12:10 p.m. A return flight departs Charleston the same day at 1:15 p.m. and arrives in Toronto at 3:45 p.m. Connections from Ottawa, Montreal and Sudbury are also available.

Passengers can travel every day of the week to and from Charleston by choosing an itinerary that includes Porter’s interline partner, JetBlue.
