Prague Airport - traffic development

In May 2011, passenger volumes at Prague Airport continued their positive development from the previous month. The total number of 1,079,858 handled passengers represented a favourable growth by 7.3% compared with the same period of the last year. The number of aircraft movements amounted to the total of 13,548 which is 2.8% down from May 2010. The air cargo traffic rose by 9.7% year-on-year.

The most rapidly growing segment in May 2011 was the charter traffic which achieved a robust growth by 13.3%. Full service carriers increased their passenger volumes by 9.6% while the low cost airlines’ share dropped by 2.3%. Passengers using Prague Airport for transfer to connecting flights represented 17.6% of all passengers on departure.

Germany, France and the UK occupied the TOP 3 positions of country ranking in terms of the number of passengers flying on these routes from/to Prague. Countries with the most significant traffic increase were Turkey (34.8%), the Netherlands (26.2%) and Poland (+23%). The most popular destination is consistently Paris/Charles de Gaulle, followed in May 2011 by Frankfurt and Moscow/Sheremetyevo.
