QANTAS CORRECTS AAP MISREPORTING ON PASSENGER NUMBERS

SYDNEY, 5 July 2012: Australian Associated Press (AAP) incorrectly reported yesterday that Virgin

Australia carried more Australian domestic passengers in the year to May 2012 than Qantas.

The AAP story was reprinted in the Daily Telegraph, Australian Financial Review and several news websites. It was also incorrectly reported on a number of radio stations.

Qantas, including its regional domestic airline QantasLink, carried 20.25 million passengers over that period.

In addition to the 20.25 million domestic Qantas flyers, the Qantas Group’s low fares airline Jetstar carried 9.84 million passengers.

Virgin Australia (including its regional domestic flying) carried 15.53 million passengers.

More Australians continue to fly with Qantas than with any other domestic airline.

Qantas and Jetstar remain the number one and two most profitable domestic airlines in Australia.
