Sabena Technics, a leading independent MRO player, specialized in civil and military aircraft maintenance has signed a 3 year contract with the Spanish start-up cargo and passenger operator Alba Star to perform full component support services on its B737-400 fleet.
Sabena technics has started supporting Alba Star through its Integrated services business unit, dedicated to full support contracts. Alba Star, which already operates a fleet of two Boeing B737-400, plans by the end of May 2011 to add an extra two aircraft to its fleet.
“I am honored that Alba Star has chosen Sabena technics to accompany them in the launch and management of their B737 operations, I sincerely hope that our partnership will grow and that our expertise will bring them success”, said Christophe Bernardini, Chief Executive Officer of Sabena technics.
Alba Star airlines started operations in July 2010 and has since grown into a successful low cost niche charter market player both in the Spanish and Italian markets. The airline has both passenger and cargo capability and already enjoys high profile Tour Operator and Courier Services contracts. “The support of a highly professional and motivated Sabena technics team to the Alba Star operation is one of the fundamental success drivers for our Company”, explained Michael Harrington, its Managing Director. “The spares pool is one of the strongest in Europe and the AOG support is second to none.”
