SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, today launched its inaugural flight to Kalibo, Philippines, the gateway to Boracay.

The return flight will take off at 1500 hours and is expected to land in Singapore at 2010 hours (all times local).*
Kalibo will be SilkAir’s third destination in the Philippines after Cebu and Davao, increasing the number of destinations in SilkAir’s route network to 46 destinations in 12 countries.
Flights to Kalibo will be operated on a thrice weekly basis, departing Singapore on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The flights will be operated by Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, featuring both Business and Economy Class cabins.
Kalibo is the capital of Aklan province in the Philippines and is a gateway to the beautiful Boracay island where nature’s bounty of scenic attractions can be found, with fine sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Boracay also offers a wide array of attractions, from cascading waterfalls, natural cold springs, and the chance to explore the five caves of Buruanga town.
To mark this special milestone, passengers onboard the inaugural flight out of Singapore received frisbees that are symbolic of the iconic and stunning beaches of Boracay, as well as inaugural flight certificates personally signed by Chief Executive SilkAir, Mr. Leslie Thng, and the flight commander.
“The launch of these direct flights to Kalibo highlights our commitment to the Philippine market. We’re excited to be connecting our customers to more destinations in the Philippines and are confident that they will be delighted with the ease in which they can now visit yet another unique destination in the region with SilkAir,” said SilkAir’s Chief Executive, Mr. Leslie Thng.
This new service will connect Kalibo with the joint Singapore Airlines – SilkAir network of over 90 cities worldwide via the Singapore hub.
For Kalibo customers visiting Singapore, the Lion City offers a wide array of attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, Marine Life Park, River Safari, the famous Night Safari by the Singapore Zoological Gardens, and Gardens by the Bay. Singapore also offers a multitude of world-class shopping malls and dining options around the city.
