LOS ANGELES, December 21, 2010 – Singapore Airlines’ customers can look forward to an enhanced travel experience as the global carrier announced the launch of its flagship A380 aircraft on its daily services from Los Angeles to Tokyo, continuing to Singapore, from March 27, 2011. The new equipment, offering nearly 100 additional seats on each flight, will replace the Boeing 747 aircraft SIA currently operates on the route.
The world’s largest commercial airliner, the A380 is configured with 12 private Suites, 60 Business Class seats and 399 seats in Economy Class, distributed across two full decks.
“The launch of our A380 to Los Angeles will bring our global flagship experience to this important market,†said C.W. Foo, regional vice president for SIA’s Americas Region. “With this new aircraft, we can now offer passengers connecting or departing via LAX our newest and most luxurious seat products across all cabin classes, as well as substantial improvements in the number of inflight entertainment options available. It’s a world-class product for a world-class city.â€
Premium Suites, Wider Economy Seats, Flat Beds in Business
Offering nearly 40 percent more interior space than a 747, the A380’s larger cabin translates to greater personal space and enhanced comfort for passengers.
Economy Class seats are 2 inches wider than the industry average, offer greater seatback recline and larger, 10.4 inch personal video monitors for every passenger.
Business Class features fully flat beds arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, meaning every seat has direct aisle access.
Premium passengers can take advantage of the ultimate in in-flight luxury: Singapore Airlines Suites. These semi-private cabins offer 23-inch video screens with access to 1004 on-demand entertainment options, meals served on crisp linens and Givenchy china, and personal care amenities by Ferragamo. At bedtime, a separate, fully flat bed is decked with down duvet and a range of pillows, with SIA’s famous turndown service to ensure a good night’s sleep. Singapore Airlines is also the only airline in the world to offer full-sized, double beds inflight – available via two “Double Suite†cabins aboard the A380.
