ST. GEORGE, Utah, Feb. 14, 2014 PRNewswire/ — SkyWest, Inc., (NASDAQ: SKYW) (“SkyWest”) today reported an 1.3 percent decrease in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for January, while available seat miles (ASMs) decreased 3.8 percent compared to January 2013. SkyWest also reported that passenger boardings for January decreased 4.7 percent to 4,285,233 compared to 4,496,285 for the same period last year. Load factor increased to 78.3 percent compared to 76.4 percent in January 2013. The combined airlines generated 2.2 billion RPMs for the month, while ASMs decreased to 2.9 billion. SkyWest also reported a decrease of 8.3 percent in departures to 106,296 for January compared to 115,971 for the same period last year.
January departures were 8.3 percent below the same period in 2013. As a result of the extreme weather conditions in January 2014, SkyWest canceled approximately 10,000 flights due to this extreme weather.
