Greenwich, CT. March 5, 2013—SkyWorks Holdings today announced the appointment of Mathis Shinnick to serve as Managing Director of SkyWorks and eventual head for Asia Pacific Region. Mathis will be based in Hong Kong where he will focus on further development of the SkyWorks Capital Asia platform. Mathis has spent his career in Aviation and Aerospace leadership roles managing leasing, merchant banking and investment banking entities. His experience includes corporate finance advisory buy- and sell-side assignments, debt and equity placements, structured asset finance, transportation asset equity funds and lease finance.
Prior to joining SkyWorks, Mathis was the CEO of Hong Kong Aviation Capital (HKAC) and President of HNA Group International Headquarter (Hong Kong) Co Ltd., a transportation investment and leasing entity based in Hong Kong. Mathis was recruited to HKAC from his role as Global Head and Executive Vice President of the global transportation business of HSH Nordbank AG based in Hamburg, Germany. Prior to joining HSH Nordbank, he founded and managed the Aerospace & Defense M&A practice for Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance based in New York. Mathis spent 20 years in investment banking before Deloitte, at Chase Securities where he was the Head of Aerospace & Defense and responsible for the team undertaking investment banking and corporate finance activities in the sector.
Mathis will transition into the role of the head of SkyWorks Capital Asia in preparation for and upon Colum Carr’s transition to SkyWorks’ US Headquarters later this year. Colum has recently been appointed to the Board of SkyWorks Capital Asia and will remain closely involved with SkyWorks’ interests in Asia following his return to the US.
In addition, Ian McBain, who had been based in Hong Kong at SkyWorks Capital Asia, has relocated to Europe where in addition to serving Asia he will be dedicating an increased focus on developing SkyWorks’ broader platform. Ian will also remain on the Board of SkyWorks Capital Asia.
