In May 2013, SmartLynx released the last of our B767 aircraft from our fleet, making SmartLynx Airlines an A320 only operator.
The Boeings had been on a long term wet lease to the Venezuelan operator SBA and have now been returned to their owners at the end of the contract.
SmartLynx Airlines currently have ten A320s in the fleet, having added some aircraft to replace those whose lease contracts had expired. Mr. Jurgis Sedlieneks, SmartLynx VP Commercial, stated “I am confident that being a single aircraft type operator will allow our company to streamline the operation and better service our core competency in the narrowbody ACMI market.”
The company plans to expand further and more A320 additions are expected in the coming year.
