South African Airlink appoints Cockley Brake for Jetstream 41 remarketing

Expanding South African regional carrier Airlink has announced that it is to phase out its remaining seven Jetstream 41’s and has placed remarketing in the hands of independent British Aerospace (BAe) aircraft specialist Cockley Brake Limited. Cockley Brake was formed in 2012 by Steve Doughty, who was responsible for portfolio sales and leasing at BAe for many years up to 2011.

Rodger Foster, CEO at South African Airlink says that the carrier ‘now needs to focus on simplification of its fleet by way of rationalization of types and to this end emphasis will be on increasing its fleet of larger jet aircraft to cope with growing demand and greater distances. The J41 has served this company well and we have continued to invest in the fleet. This, together with the opportunity to acquire a fleet of seven aircraft to a common specification with a full package of engine, propeller and airframe spares, a reversible cargo conversion package for two aircraft, a non-motion flight simulator and pilot and engineer conversion training makes this an attractive package for both existing J41 operators and airlines looking to move up from 19 seater aircraft. ‘

The BAe J41 is a fast, economical, pressurised twin turboprop with seating for up to 30 passengers.
