SR Technics redelivers 100th aircraft in Malta

November 15, 2013 – Zurich, Switzerland: SR Technics, part of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network, has redelivered the 100th aircraft out of its Malta facility after an aircraft maintenance check. The landmark aircraft from easyJet, registration G-EZDE, departed from Malta International Airport for London Gatwick, having just undergone an IL-Check (heavy maintenance).

Since SR Technics started operations in Malta in October 2010; easyJet has been the company’s baseload customer with many of its aircraft passing through the hangar for IL-Checks and EOL-Checks (end-of-lease). The 150-strong maintenance team, which operates out of Safi Aviation Park at Malta Airport, has also welcomed other aircraft from airlines including Finnair, Orbest and Aigle Azur.

The two-bay hangar in Malta is SR Technics’ Center of Excellence for narrowbody maintenance. The facility offers customers base and heavy maintenance services, which combine proven quality and technical excellence with favorable pricing levels. In addition to its core services, the team offers paint, sheet metal, composite and NDT as supplementary services.

“This is a milestone moment for our Malta team, most of who were working for SR Technics when the first aircraft, easyJet’s “Pride of Malta”, was redelivered on October 21, 2010. It’s a proud moment for all of us, only achievable through the trust easyJet has put in SR Technics, working closely with team at the facility to adapt and improve maintenance activities to meet the airline’s operational needs,” comments André Wall, President at SR Technics. “The team has worked tirelessly since we started operations on the island to continuously reduce turnaround times and improve efficiency. Their commitment to delivering at the highest quality levels and maintaining an uninterrupted nose-to-tail operation for easyJet, and reliably delivering other customer aircraft on time, is testament to the values we hold at SR Technics.”

“The team in Malta has worked very closely and effectively with the easyJet team to put in place a highly reliable and efficient service since our very first aircraft. Delivering aircraft consistently on-time is very important and underpins the easyJet operation, allowing us to provide an on-time service to our customers. We would like to congratulate the team in Malta on passing this 100th aircraft milestone,” comments Ian Davies, Head of Engineering at easyJet.
