Singapore, 19 December 2013 : ST Aerospace, through its US affiliate, STA
San Antonio, announced today that it has signed a long term property lease
agreement with the City of Hondo, for 379,692 sq ft of space, comprising a
narrow-body aircraft hangar and surrounding ramp space at the South Texas
Regional Airport in Hondo, Texas.
With the expanded presence into South Texas, STA San Antonio will establish
a new business, focusing on aircraft parking and green harvesting of
aircraft parts, components and engines. This business will operate under
STA San Antonio’s new division ‘Hondo Aerospace’.
Leveraging ST Aerospace’s global network, Hondo Aerospace will provide
synergies to the group’s extensive capability offering in airframe,
component and engine maintenance repair and overhaul, leasing, asset
management, engineering design and development, cabin interiors and parts
manufacturing.
With the new business focus, ST Aerospace would be able to explore green
aircraft recycling technologies and initiatives, as it progresses up the
value chain. Hondo Aerospace is expected to commence operations in the
first quarter of 2014.
Marketed as part of ST Aerospace’s MRO network, STA San Antonio is a
subsidiary of Vision Technologies Aerospace Incorporated (VT Aerospace).
