Starting April 25: Montreal, the Only North American City to Be Connected to Tunis by Direct Flight

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC—(Marketwired – March 11, 2014) – Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) is pleased to confirm that Tunisian airline Syphax will launch regular direct service between Montréal-Trudeau and Tunis-Carthage airports this April 25. This will make Montréal the only North American city connected to the Tunisian capital by direct flight. Tunis now joins four other North African and Middle Eastern destinations served year-round from Canada exclusively via Montréal-Trudeau: Casablanca (Morocco), Algiers (Algeria), Amman (Jordan) and Doha (Qatar).

“Following the recent announcements of the arrival of Turkish Airlines (Istanbul, Turkey) and Copa Airlines (Panama), this third addition for 2014 clearly illustrates Montréal-Trudeau airport’s vitality as it seeks to strengthen its positioning as a hub connecting Europe/North Africa/the Middle East with the Americas,” said ADM President and Chief Executive Officer James Cherry.

The new weekly Montréal-Tunis flight, about 7 1/2 hours in duration, will be aboard an Airbus A-330-200 with a total of 277 seats-250 in economy class and 27 in business class. The flights will depart on Friday evenings.

Montréal-Trudeau serves some 130 destinations by direct flight, ranking it second among Canadian airports in this area. This summer, Montréal will be offering direct flights to 28 European centres. Focused on the Atlantic, for essentially geographic and demographic reasons, Montréal-Trudeau’s air services reflect the specific needs of the Montréal community.
