SWISS names new Head of Sales & Marketing for its home markets

Swiss International Air Lines has appointed Dieter Vranckx as Head of Sales & Marketing for its home markets of Switzerland, Germany and Austria. He will assume his new duties on 1 September. Vranckx succeeds Markus Binkert, who became Chief Commercial Officer in May but has additionally retained his previous position on an interim basis.

Dieter Vranckx, who is 40, can draw on many years of airline industry experience in his new position. His appointment also marks a return to SWISS: he served the company from 2001 to 2010 in various executive capacities, including SWISS General Manager Sales & Marketing for the Asia-Pacific Region and Swiss WorldCargo’s Head of Asia, Middle East & Africa.

A Belgian national with strong Swiss roots, Dieter Vranckx has been serving since September 2010 as Regional Director Sales & Handling US Midwest & Canada for Lufthansa Cargo, based in Chicago. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the Solvay Business School (Université Libre de Bruxelles).

Dieter Vranckx succeeds Markus Binkert, who has been Head of Sales & Marketing for the home markets of Switzerland, Germany and Austria since the beginning of this year, and has continued to hold the position on an interim basis since his appointment as Chief Commercial Officer.

“I am delighted that, in Dieter Vranckx, we have secured the services of such a proven airline professional who is well familiar with the Swiss market,” says CCO Markus Binkert. “I wish Dieter every success and satisfaction in his new capacity, and I look forward to working with him.”
