SWISS optimizes codeshare management with IT from Lufthansa Systems

SWISS has opted for the SchedConnect codeshare management solution from Lufthansa Systems. SchedConnect enables carriers to optimize their codeshare management, which results in cost savings and higher revenues. The two companies recently signed a five-year agreement to this effect.

SchedConnect processes schedule changes in real-time. If the minimum transfer time is no longer met due to a schedule change or if flights are canceled, the system automatically searches for an alternative connection and reassigns the marketing flight number accordingly. Changes are sent through the reservation systems to travel agents, customers and the airlines involved. As a result, SchedConnect enables partner airlines to synchronize their flight schedules. This increases revenues as well as passenger satisfaction.

The high level of automation, the daily calculation of optimum codeshare connections and the flexible definition of schedule distribution rules all deliver significant process and efficiency gains. In addition, SchedConnect consolidates all schedule data at a central location.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is the national carrier of Switzerland and a member of the Lufthansa Group. With a fleet of 90 aircraft, it operates flights from Zurich, Basel and Geneva to 84 destinations in 40 countries worldwide.
