TAP launches operations to Sao Vicente

The Island of Sao Vicente, in Cape Verde, is to become TAP’s thirteenth destination in Africa as well as the third one operated by the Portuguese airline in that country adding to the Islands of Santiago (Praia) and Sal already served.
Sao Vicente is the second most populated island of the Cape Verde archipelago and Mindelo, its capital city, is not only the country’s cultural centre but also the second largest city in Cape Verde.

TAP will begin operations to the new destination next July 1st, 2011, with two weekly frequencies connecting Lisbon to Sao Vicente every Tuesday and Friday.

On Tuesdays, flights depart Lisbon at 08h00 and arrive in Sao Vicente at 10h10, while on return departures from Sao Vicente are due to 11h00 with arrivals at Lisbon airport at 16h55. On Fridays, flights depart Lisbon at 15h55 and arrive at 18h05 in Sao Vicente, with return operations scheduled to leave Cape Verde (VXE) at 18h50 and land in Lisbon at 00h45 (+1).

Meanwhile, TAP has recently announced the inauguration of operations to Bamako, Mali, due to begin next June 5.
In addition to this new destination soon to commence and the three ones (Praia, Sal and Sao Vicente) in Cape Verde, TAP currently flies to Luanda (Angola); Maputo (Mozambique); Johannesburg (South Africa); Bissau (Guinea-Bissau); Sao Tome (Sao Tome Principe) Dakar (Senegal); Casablanca and Marrakech (Morocco) and Algiers (Algeria) in the African continent. With the new routes to be added, TAP network will in the whole include 13 gateways in Africa in 2011. Last year, TAP carried more than 600,000 passengers on its African routes.
