Paris, Amstelveen, Bangkok 5th February 2015 – The long-term contract signed between Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) and AFI KLM E&M involves component availability and repair services for the eight Boeing 787 aircraft ordered by the Thai flag carrier, with four of them already in operation.
The agreement covers a significant scope of parts in support of THAI 787 operations including consumables, rotables, tooling & equipment, as well as APU and engine nacelle support, making AFI KLM E&M the one-stop shop for the Dreamliners of its new long term customer.
Market-leading 787 product offer
In winning this contract, AFI KLM E&M, current market leader for the 787 component product, set itself apart through the adaptability, performance and competitiveness of its support offering for 787 family aircraft, recently extended to Trent 1000 and GEnx engine nacelle services.
Leveraging the Group’s very unique position as having ordered the 787 and being a MRO on this same aircraft, AFI KLM E&M customers will directly benefit from an unequalled scale effect and from a very precious operational experience in every aspect to this new generation platform.
Mr Chalermpon Intarawong, Executive Vice President, THAI Technical, said: “I am very pleased with this significant cooperation and feel confident that AFI KLM E&M would provide the superb services with outstanding qualities as recognized among aviation industries.” This agreement constitutes the first genuine cooperation between the two airlines and strengthens AFI KLM E&M’s already strong position in Asia.
Mr Franck Terner, Executive Vice President AIR FRANCE KLM Engineering & Maintenance, added: “We are honoured by this mark of trust on the part of Thai Airways, concerning this new-generation product that is rapidly coming on stream among the leading international airlines.”
