Operating Results for August 2012
The THAI Board of Directors acknowledged the Company’s operating performance for August 2012, with a higher cabin factor average of 78.8% in August 2012 compared to the same month last year at 74.8%, with an increase in cabin factor on all routes.Cabin factor on regional routes rose from 73.8% in August 2011 to 79.7% in August 2012; cabin factor on intercontinental routes rose from 74.9% in August 2011 to 77.5% in August 2012; and cabin factor on domestic routes rose from 80.7% in August 2011 to 83.8% in August 2012. This resulted in an increase in the number of passengers carried, from 1.62 million in August 2011 to 1.78 million, or a 9.8% increase, in August 2012. Revenue Passenger–Kilometer (RPK) was 4.7% higher than the same month last year. Available Seat–Kilometer (ASK) decreased 0.6% in August 2012 compared to the same month in 2011.
Cargo and commercial mail operations remain affected by world economic slowdown and the European economic crisis, which resulted in a decrease in Revenue Freight Ton-Kilometer (RFTK) that was 2.6% lower in August 2012 than the same month the previous year, and freight production 3.9% higher in August 2012 than in August 2011.Therefore, the average freight load factor was 50.9% in August 2012, which was lower than the same month last year at 54.2% .
