THAI signs up for airport mapping data from Lufthansa Systems

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) has selected Lido/AMDB from Lufthansa Systems to provide airport mapping data for its new A380 fleet for 5 years.

Lido/AMDB is a highly precise airport mapping database, which enables the Onboard Airport Navigation System (OANS) on the A380 aircraft to display airport moving maps. The OANS enhances the flight crew’s situational awareness during taxi operations. In addition Lido/AMDBs enable OANS supported safety features like Brake-to-Vacate (BtV); Runway Overrun Warning (ROW) and Runway Overrun Protection (ROP). Lido/AMDBs are highly accurate databases describing the spatial layout of an airport, which include airport feature geometries, their attributes and functional information. The geo-referenced airport data of Lido/AMDB serve also for the Lufthansa Systems Lido/AMM airport moving map application for Electronic Flight Bags and other portable devices.

THAI is the national flag carrier of Thailand, headquartered in Bangkok. From its hub at Suvarnabhumi Airport, THAI flies to 75 destinations across 5 continents, using a fleet of 96 aircraft. As a founding member of the Star Alliance, the world’s first and largest global airline alliance, THAI is a gateway to the world of seamless travel experience.
