Czech Airlines welcomed a brand-new Airbus A319 at Ruzyn? Airport, which flew to Prague directly from the Hamburg plant. It is the 15th of a total of 22 Airbus aircraft that are gradually rejuvenating the Czech Airlines Group fleet. The aircraft, with the matriculation mark OK – REQ and a seat capacity of 135, will set out on its first flight, to Odessa, Ukraine, on 27 May.
“We will finance the aircraft with a standard commercial loan. Given that several bank institutions were interested in cooperating in the financing of the aircraft, we managed to negotiate it on advantageous terms. We perceive the interest of these renowned financial institutions as a sign of confidence in the financial health of our company, which is a good report card for Czech Airlines, one-third of the way through its restructuring,” said Miroslav Dvo?ák, President of Czech Airlines.
With the arrival of the sparkling new aircraft, Czech Airlines’ oldest aircraft retired from the fleet – the OK-VFI ATR 42, which had served passengers for a whole 21 years. Thanks to Czech Airlines’ perfect technical maintenance, the aircraft will be able to continue flying for another owner. In the future, other aircraft will be retired from the fleet, such as ATR turbo-propeller aircraft, on which the Czech Airlines flight schedule no longer counts, as well as Boeing-type aircraft. Over the course of the next few years, 7 brand-new Airbuses will arrive.
New Airbuses are cheaper to operate and more environmentally friendly, and in many respects more comfortable for passengers. They significantly contribute to the rejuvenation of the Czech Airlines fleet, due to which the Airline will, in a few year’s time, boast one of the youngest fleets in Europe.
In recent days, the airplane fleet of the charter carrier HOLIDAYS Czech Airlines grew with the addition of another two aircraft from the so-called Airbus Family.
