The Embraer 145 leaves the LOT fleet

Warsaw, 15 April 2011 – Today’s flight number LO-3832 from Gdask to Warsaw was the last to be carried out by the Embraer 145 in LOT Polish Airlines colours.This type of aircraft, popularly known as the “Pencil”, will be officially retired from LOT’s route network. Its place will be taken by the Embraer 170 and 175, and LOT’s latest acquisition, the Embraer 190-200, also known as the ERJ-195.

All passengers of the last flight received small gifts and a special diploma signed by the Captain S?awomir Majcher.

The Embraer 145 was the first model by the Brazilian manufacturer to appear in the LOT fleet in the late 1990s.On the basis of a contract entered into by LOT, the carrier then received 14 of this type of machine, which served on short international routes in Europe and domestic connections.

The sight of this aircraft model, decorated with huge red hearts, accompanied several successive editions of the Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, in the role of the initiative’s flagship aircraft, the “OrkiestroLOT”.

In 2003, LOT entered into another contract for the delivery of Embraer 170s, and again in 2007 for Embraer 175s and the newest type, the ERJ-195.

Now, following the retirement of the Embraer 145s, LOT is using ten Brazilian ERJ-170s, fourteen ERJ-175s, and one ERJ-195. Over the course of this year and the next, the LOT fleet will add three more ERJ-195 aircraft.
