The renewal of the Alitalia fleet continues with the arrival of three new A320 Airbus.

Rome, 17 December 2010 – Three new A320 Airbus join the Alitalia fleet. The first two, named “Umberto Saba” and “Leonardo Sciascia”, are already operational. The third, which is expected to be delivered next week, will be called “Carlo Goldoni”.

With the addition of these three A320 Airbus, the number of new aircraft to have joined the Alitalia fleet since January 2009 increases to 21, two of these are A330 Airbus for long-haul operations.
The latest three new Airbus A320 offer the same internal configuration as the previous A320s delivered to Alitalia, feature leather seats equipped with individual LCD screens and provide maximum comfort and more space for passengers.

The new generation Airbus A320 aircraft are quieter, making for a lower fuel consumption and allowing a reduction of up to 30% of CO2 emissions compared to older versions of the same aircraft.

Alitalia today has a total operating fleet of 150 aircraft.

The renewal plan of the Airbus fleet for medium and long haul operations will continue in 2011 and will see, among others, the entry of four new A330 Airbus for long-haul connections, with a 3-class configuration: Magnifica, Classica Plus and Classica.
