Traffic has increased by 17 per cent in flights to Latin America in November

In the overall network, revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) went up 7.9 per cent and capacity increased by 8.5 per cent. Load factor declined by 0.4 points, standing at 77.4 per cent. Unit passenger revenue continues exceeding 2009 figures, due to the rise in the business class long haul passengers.

In the long haul segment traffic grew by 13.9 per cent, with an increase of 17 per cent in the capacity and a decrease of 2.1 points in the load factor (80.2 per cent). In Latin America capacity climbed by 21.1 per cent, with major growths in the main destinations of the company; the demand improved by 17.2 per cent. Load factor reached 80.6 per cent, 2.7 points below the same period of last year. North Atlantic load factor fell 0.6 points and stood at 79.3 per cent. In this region traffic dropped by 0.6 per cent and the figures of capacity were similar to the ones of November 2009.

In Europe load factor raised 0.2 points, reaching 72.4 per cent, with reductions of 1.8 per cent in the traffic and 2 in capacity. In the flights with origin and destination Madrid, demand and offer narrowed by 2.3 per cent and 2.5 per cent, respectively, and load factor climbed 0.2 points. In Africa and the Middle East load factor improved by 3.2 points (up to 76.6 per cent), with an adjustment of 1.5 per cent in offer and an increase of 2.8 per cent in demand.

In the domestic sector the load factor improved by 2.4 points with respect to the previous year, reaching 69.2 per cent, with decreases both in capacity and in traffic, 11.3 per cent and 8.1 per cent, respectively. In the flights between Barcelona  and Madrid load factor improved by 5.5 percentage points, with drops both in capacity (10.8 per cent) and traffic (2.6 per cent).
