Traffic Results for June 2014: More than One Million Passengers Flew with Austrian Airlines Again

ˇ June 2014: capacity utilization up by 1.5 percentage points
ˇ January – June 2014: 1.7 percentage point rise in capacity utilization

The Austrian Airlines Group carried more than one million passengers again in the month of June 2014, corresponding to a rise of 0.6 percent from the prior-year level. This increase can be particularly attributed to the strong growth of passenger volume on flights to North America. Capacity was increased by 1.8 percent. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) were up by 3.7 percent. As a result, capacity utilization (passenger load factor) in June 2014 improved by 1.5 percentage points from the previous year to 80.8 percent.

In the period January to June 2014, Austrian Airlines carried approximately 5.4 million passengers, corresponding to an increase of 1.4 percent year-on-year. Capacity was raised by 3.1 percent. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) rose by 5.4 percent. Capacity utilization of the flights in the first six months of 2014 was up by 1.7 percentage points to 77.4 percent.

“In June we once again carried more passengers. Capacity utilization for flights to North America is reaching record high levels”, states Karsten Benz, Chief Commercial Officer of Austrian Airlines. “Austrian is making progress thanks to new products and improved productivity“.

Europe
In June 2014, Austrian Airlines carried about 918,900 passengers in Europe, the same volume as in the previous year. However, the passenger load factor was raised by 0.7 percentage points to 79.9 percent. In the period January to June 2014, more than 4.6 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines in Europe. This represents a rise of 0.6 percent compared to the prior-year level. The passenger load factor was up 0.7 percentage points to 75.1 percent.

Intercontinental
In June 2014, Austrian Airlines carried a total of about 150,100 passengers on its intercontinental flights or 4.6 percent more passengers than in June of 2013. The passenger load factor rose by 2.4 percentage points to 81.7 percent.

In the period January to June 2014, more than 805,800 passengers were carried on Austrian Airlines intercontinental flights. This represents a rise of 6.5 percent year-on-year. The passenger load factor was up by 2.6 percentage points to 79.6 percent
