Traffic Statistics – August 2011

Dublin & London, 7 September 2011: Aer Lingus Group plc (“Aer Lingus”), today announced traffic statistics for the month of August 2011.

Total booked passenger numbers, including Aer Lingus Regional operations, increased by 4.1% in August. This represents a continuation of the positive trend noted in Aer Lingus’ recent results for the second quarter of 2011. Short haul passenger metrics were positive in August and more than offset the effects of reduced long haul capacity caused by Hurricane Irene at the end of the month.

Aer Lingus’ booked load factor in August 2011 increased by 0.4 points on August 2010 to 86.1%. Short haul booked load factor was 84.6%, an increase of 0.8 points on August 2010, with capacity increasing by 2.7%. Long haul booked load factor was 89.7%, a decrease of 0.2 points on August 2010, with capacity decreasing by 4.0% as a result of Hurricane Irene at the end of the month.

Aer Lingus’ total booked passenger numbers, in August 2011 were 1,030,000, an increase of 1.8% compared to August 2010. Short haul booked passengers in August 2011 were 935,000, a 2.4% increase on August 2010 while long haul booked passengers in August 2011 were 95,000, a 4.0% decrease on August 2010.

Aer Lingus Regional’s total booked passenger numbers in August 2011 were 82,000, an increase of 46.4% compared to August 2010.
