US Airways Reduces East Coast Schedule in Anticipation of Hurricane Irene

TEMPE, Ariz.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—US Airways (NYSE: LCC) today announced that it is proactively canceling flights along the East Coast as a result of Hurricane Irene’s projected path. Flight schedules at Washington Reagan, Philadelphia International Airport, New York’s LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy and Newark airports and Boston Logan, as well as other cities in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, will be reduced as the airline works to ensure the safety of its customers, employees and equipment.

Customers are strongly encouraged to check flight status at usairways.com or by texting their flight number to TEXTUS before arriving at the airport. The airline will continue to monitor the situation and make operational adjustments as needed. US Airways will also issue updated travel advisories as needed which are available on the company’s website, www.usairways.com.

US Airways is relaxing certain fees for customers who may have to adjust their travel plans as a result of Hurricane Irene through Sept. 2 and Sept. 6-12. Many customers will be able to change their flights online at usairways.com/manageyourtrip. If customers require assistance, they may call 800-428-4322.

Customers traveling on certain tickets, such as some available from third-party ticket discounters, including but not limited to discount travel websites, may not have all elements of the policy available to them. Tickets issued by US Airways for travel on airlines other than US Airways, US Airways Shuttle or US Airways Express will follow the rules of the airline operating the flight(s).

Itinerary changes are subject to availability, and in certain cases, an additional collection fee. Customers will be able to stand by for alternate flights without incurring the standby fee if a satisfactory alternate itinerary cannot be confirmed. Additional information regarding these amended ticketing policies can be found online at www.usairways.com or by calling 800-428-4322.
