WestJet reports April load factor of 82.3 per cent

CALGARY, May 5, 2014 /CNW/ – WestJet today announced April 2014 traffic results with a load factor of 82.3 per cent. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 6.5 per cent year-over-year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 7.1 per cent over the same period. The airline flew 1.6 million guests in April, a year-over-year increase of 7.7 per cent or approximately 116,000 additional guests.

“We are pleased with our continued strong growth in traffic as we welcomed a record number of guests in April into our network,” said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. “I want to thank all WestJetters for their hard work and dedication to delivering the remarkable guest experience that earned us the highest equity scores among airline and vacation package supplier brands in the 2013 Harris Poll Canada EquiTrend Study once again.”
